Block #7: Discernment

Together they make for strong Discernment, the Bizuride kind of discernment.

This block represents the skills needed to be a logical, independent thinker. Block #7 is the top block of the Science and Health tower. It is a representation of the highest levels of science study and discovery. A good way to understand the concept of discernment it to reflect on the life and work of Louis Pasteur. Dr. Pasteur was a chemist and microbiologist who lived in the 1800s and was renowned for his discoveries in vaccination, pasteurization, and fermentation. During his time he endured ridicule and doubt among many of his colleagues. Louis Pasteur saw the desperate need to cure and prevent deadly diseases, rabies, and illnesses from bacterial contamination. He combined the elements of Block #7 to use evidence-based knowledge he had learned from other scientists and his own experiments in combination with a sense of faith, hope, trust in his process and the chain of evidence to make the discoveries that has saved millions of lives. This combination of following a chain of evidentiary based knowledge with a mindset of faith in the scientific process has given the needed fuel to invent and discover the advances made by individuals in our humans family for thousands of generations. Allowing students the opportunity to experience this process and the flow of mental energy to find the answers and solutions to our most pressing problems not only gives them the chance to build this characteristic within their own character but it also allows them to better understand and thereby support through funding, voting, and contribution the discoveries and cures being studied by scientists today.
